Heaters

Drain water from your water heater until it is clear, this will help in preventing sediment buildup in your water heater. Do this about every 2 months for better heater efficiency during the cold winter season.

To help conserve energy and money with your water heater, wrap your water heater with an insulated blanket. This will help keep the the heat in your water heater, rather than having it evaporate into the air.

To save even more money try using a tankless water heater. These heaters are the "hottest" small home appliance on the market these days. They offer almost unlimited hot water and produce substantial savings in electricity costs, since you're not paying to keep a 75-gallon tank of water hot all day long.

Tank less water heaters have been around for decades and are common in Europe and Japan. Their higher price tag, though, has made it tougher for tank less water heaters to compete in the North American market. That has changed, however, thanks to price reductions and widespread use of tank less heaters in hotel rooms, hospitals and other commercial operations.
